Staff Kudos – Spring 2009

  • Teacher, Mr. Steven Roche, who recently received his Masters Degree in Special Education from Loyola College, was nominated by his professors for the Father Wise Award, which is given to students who excel in both academics and in community/church accomplishments. Although Mr. Roche didn’t receive the award, the fact that he was nominated put him in the top two percent of graduate special education students.
  • Teacher, Ms. Ann Marie Diegelmann just received her Masters Degree in Special Education from Hopkins--summa cum laude!!  Her degree is in Severe and Profound Disabilities. She also received a graduate certificate in Autism and other Pervasive Developmental Disabilities.
  • Teacher, Ms. Allyson Wynn recently received her Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Special Education/Grades 6-12) from Goucher College.
  • Teacher, Ms. Nora Dunn completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Special Education from Towson University.
  • Transition Assistant, Ms. Maura Nagle earned her Masters of Education in Special Education from Loyola College of Maryland.
  • Teaching Assistant, Ms. Nicole Torbit received a Registered Nursing degree from CCBC-Essex Franklin Square Hospital.
  • Ms. Kathy Perry, Assistant to the Administrative Coordinator, was honored by PBIS with the Eagle High Five Award for her work as cardiopulmonary resuscitation instructor. Kathy not only trained more than 20 SES staff members in CPR this year alone in, but also raised funds to buy CPR mannequins and supplies.
  • The recently released book Serving Productive Time: Stories, Poems, and Tips to Inspire Positive Change from Inmates, Prison Staff and Volunteers, compiled by Tom Lagana and Laura Lagana, contains the story “Beyond the Walls” by Development Assistant Mrs. Pat Martin. Pat’s story draws on her experience a few years ago as an instructor at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women.
  • On Thursday, April 23rd Executive Director, Dr. Christine Manlove was honored at the Rotary Club of Woodlawn-Westview’s 12th Annual Service Above Self Community Awards Dinner. Dr. Manlove received her award for dedicating her career to children with special learning challenges.
