Miguel Ward received a Michael Cardin Scholarship given by The Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities (MANSEF). Miguel used his scholarship to attend a summer camp program called "Kids Cook!" through the For the Love of Food organization. For a week in August, Miguel participated with eight other students in the camp session titled, "How to Think Like a Chef" where he learned such cooking skills as sautéing, frying, grilling, and new techniques for chopping. He made dishes such as quiche with bacon, egg, and broccoli; blueberry pies, cole slaw, and his favorite foods—chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, and home made ice cream. Miguel is grateful for this opportunity and hopes after graduation to work as a chef.
