"My son has begun to make great progress in reading and math for the first time in his educational history. After years of resistance, he now wants to go to school."

"In the last three years, my son's improvement has been fantastic . to know where he was come from and to see him now --  it's a miracle and a blessing."

"We are so thankful that our grandson..is a student at St. E's. Everyone is so loving and caring - and no task seems to be so strange or difficult for you if it meets a student's needs."

Golf Tournament

The Seventh Annual SES Golf Tournament took place on September 23. After a continental breakfast, ninety golfers enjoyed great rounds of golf, feasted on buffet lunch, listened to enthusiastic words of praise for SES by Honorary Co-Chairperson, former Governor Robert Ehrlich, and applauded the winners: First

Jim Schuch won the Driving Range Contest, and Ted Wiedemann won the Putt Contest. Tom McNamara won the 50/50 Raffle and John Cook won the Poconos Weekend Raffle.

Sponsoring the tournament were: Iron Sponsors: The Nelson Company and Wachovia Securities; Putt Sponsors: BDP International, Cavanaugh Capital Management, and Heritage Properties; Chip Sponsors: Gary and Lesley Geisel, Hartman Financial, Inc., Maryland Telephone, Matthai Material Handling, and Ross Infrastructure; Snack Sponsor: Gorges & Co.; Open Bar Sponsor: Heery International; Longest Drive/Closest to Pin Contests Sponsor: Naden/Lean LLC; Putt Contest: Pearl Family; Hole-in-One Sponsor: Heritage Chrysler Dodge-Jeep (MileOne); Print Sponsor: Uptown Press; Continental Breakfast Sponsor: Gourmet Bakery; and Print Media Sponsor: The Daily Record. Special thank you also to the Hole Sponsors as well as the Prize and Silent Auction donors.

The student body was represented by senior, Reid Buedel, who golfed on a foursome with his father. Also at the tournament were students Greg Touzalin and Jacob Homsher., who served as ambassadors. Greg and Jacob enjoyed their day, not just because they were not in class on a beautiful day, but because they met Governor Ehrlich, talked to the golfers, ate hot dogs and snacks, and had their first ride in a golf cart. They also learned a few things, such as what “fore” means – duck your head—and that on the course you have to be quiet and concentrate. Jacob’s job was to meet and greet the golfers in various places on the course. Greg did the same thing, stationed at the putting contest. Greg tried his hand at putting and astounded everyone by sinking three balls. Both students had a good time and helped the golfers do the same.

The Golf Tournament Planning Committee, chaired by Ms. Laura Pearl, along with staff and parents thank all of you who supported SES through our annual golf tournament.
