Bull & Oyster Roast – March 13, 2010
Our most recent SES Bull & Oyster Roast was Saturday, March 13, 2010, from 6 – 11 p.m., at Tall Cedars Hall in Parkville, Maryland.
Rosie Stole the Show.... and our Hearts ------ She certainly did! She came to the Bull & Oyster Roast and all eyes were on her. This year's theme was "Happy Days" and again was a sell-out. And overseeing everything was Rosie, standing on the stage wearing her basic black, plus a pink rose, guaranteed to catch the eye and tug at the heart. Rosie watched as everyone enjoyed the food, dancing, hula hoop contest, twist contest, wheels, raffles, and silent auction.
After surviving the winter blizzards, everyone hoped they would win the big prize -- a week in June at the Stroud family's incredible beach house at Bethany Beach, Delaware. Astudent's aunt was the lucky winner. The second prize, a flat screen TV. was won by parents, who immediately donated it back to the school -- bless their hearts. Third prize of $100 cash was won by a friend of SES.
On-line Auction Sponsors were DLA Piper, Gaurdreau, Inc., M&T Bank, and Parting with Possessions. Event Sponsors were Baltimore Floor Works, BUCS Club, Cottage Financial, Loyola Univeristy School of Education, Frank and Irene Martin, Naden/Lean, and The Nelson Company. We hope you will support our sponsors and thank them for supporting SES.
And Rosie?? She is still part of the SES family, but soon will reside in West Virginia at the Phelps family vacation home. A friend of their family out-bid several others at the silent auction, and then gave Rosie to Bud and his family. So, the family now has a 34" high, by 60" long black rhinoceros residing with them -- we think in their front yard!
Much fun was had by all -- the food was fantastic as always, the theme baskets were hot items on the wheel, the many and various raffles were filled with prizes, and no one went home empty handed. Be sure to watch for this event again next March.
